Could you imagine a world where you had a key to a door with no handle? A chair you couldn't sit on? A glass you couldn't possibly sip from? Just imagine how incredibly frustrating it would be.
Here's a designer who has given regular, daily objects a make-under to show just how tough life can be with/without these items.
Titled The Uncomfortable Project, Athens-based architect Katerina Kamprani deliberately designed everyday objects to be inconvenient. On a closer look you will realize the objects can still be used, only it would be extremely problematic.
"The goal is to re-design useful objects making them uncomfortable but usable and maintain the semiotics of the original item," it says on the website. Sadistic or a clever way to make you see the importance of the little things in life, you decide. Check out a few below:
1. A watering can, to water your watering can. How ingenious... NOT.
2. Just imagine a shirt with eight of these buttons. Now imagine having to sow one on, in case you lose one.
3. Rain, rain go away is all you'll say when you have an umbrella such as this.
4. Try to twist, lick, dunk this Oreo. Oh, we dare you to.
5. To do: Buy a dinner table and put these chairs around it. Then invite over some friends. And voila, now you don't have any friends.
6. Trying to quit drinking? Here's how you do it.
7. Paying a bomb to the gym and dietician? Use these...
8. Aren't these MUST HAVE utensils for you kitchen?
9. A door x 3 + THAT key + a deflatable handle = Way to the bathroom
Say what?
10. Stairway to heaven? Not so much...
