If you're on Facebook, you might have often groaned inwardly when yet another picture of a baby posted by a doting mother popped up on your timeline. Floods of baby photos from fond new mummies can be rather overwhelming - but you've probably never done what this Australian woman's friends did to her.
Jade Ruthven, a first time mother, received an anonymous letter on Monday attacking her constant Facebook updates on her six-month-old daughter Addy.
In an unsigned letter, Mrs Ruthven, a 33-year-old dental hygienist, was told that photos of her six month old were 'pissing people off'.
"I have got together with a few of the girls and we are all SO OVER your running commentary of your life and every single thing Addy does," it read.
"She wears a new outfit - well take a photo and send it PRIVATELY to the person who gave it to her - not to everyone!!! She crawls off the mat - we DON'T CARE!!!!! She's 6 months old - BIG DEAL!!!!"
The letter also told Mrs Ruthven that 'not everyone is as interested' as she is about 'what Addy does'.
"Addy is gorgeous and we all love her, but our kids are great too. I guess you are just pissing a lot of people off with all your 'Addy this and Addy that' - we all thought it might ease off after the first month, but it hasn't," it read.
The author of the hate letter also told Mrs Ruthven that it was a collective effort to let her know "what people really think".
An angry Mrs Ruthven sent it to Australian comedian, Em Rusciano. She, in turn, posted it on her Facebook page and wrote a column on it for news.com.au.
In an interview to Daily Mail Australia, Mrs Ruthven said, "I was shaking with anger and shock to think a so call friend of mine could be so heartless and gutless to not even sign their name."
The letter has now gone viral.
The Internet has come out in support of Jade Ruthven and is encouraging her to post more photos of her baby.
