It is said "beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder." So in a world that has so many different races and cultures, what can be defined as beautiful? With makeup and Photoshop becoming not just tools to enhance beauty but even create it, is there a yardstick or standard to judge beauty?
This is the essence of journalist Esther Honig's project - Before & After. Using platforms like Fiverr, Esther got in touch with as many as 40 Photoshop experts and amateurs from over 25 countries to "examine how these standards vary across cultures on a global level." Her only request to these individuals - 'make me beautiful'.
The results, not surprisingly, reflect every individual's cultural and personal choice. Look for yourself and find solace in the fact that beauty is in fact subjective and it's a rare person who is considered beautiful by everyone.
