New Delhi: Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh will get a chance to become "Home Minister", courtesy actor Dev Anand.
"I have never been a minister, and have no inclination to be one either. When Dev sahib approached me, I could not refuse. Courtesy him, I have become Home Minister for a day," said Singh, who was flanked by the 85-year-old evergreen hero.
Singh (53) who is known for his proximity with Bollywood celebrities, will play the role of Home Minister in the film "Chargesheet". He had earlier played the role of a politician in some Hindi and Bengali movies.
Keeping in mind Singh's "busy schedule" ahead of Lok Sabha polls, Dev Anand agreed to shoot part of the movie at Amar Singh's official residence at Lodhi Estate in New Delhi for two days.
"I am a big fan of Dev Sahib. As a youth I used to spend several hours standing in queue to buy tickets of his films. But what I used to get was beating by the cops. We used to wait for months to see his films," recealled Singh.
The SP general secretary said the song "<i>zindgi dhuen me urata chala gaya</i>" from Dev's starrer 'Hum Dono' is his favourite.
Singh will play the role of a "conspiring" political leader in a Bengali film set to hit the big screen in November this year.
