If this uncommonly warm autumn isn't inspiration enough for you, these stunning pictures from a photo-shoot by Swiss photographer Robert Bosch for mountaineering brand Mammut, will certainly make you want to run for the hills.

The photo-shoot was done as a part of the celebrations to commemorate the first ascent to the top of the incredibly beautiful Mount Matterhorn, between the Swiss and Italian borders, by Edward Whymper - an outrageously difficult climb.

Spectacular and gravity-defying, the pictures are as much a promotion of the Alps as they are for the mountaineering brand's trekking gear.
