The shocking accident happened in Southampton, England last month

New Delhi: Terrifying footage caught on a car dashcam shows a young child smashing into the side of a moving car while crossing the road. The video shows the boy trying to cross the road while riding his scooter with his siblings. While his mother manages to stop his siblings, the boy zooms ahead and runs into the back door of the moving car.

The boy, knocked down by the impact of the crash, is luckily saved by his safety helmet. His panicked mother rushes to pick him up and carry him safely to the other side of the road. The driver comes to a sudden halt and gets out to see if the boy is fine.

The young boy is seen crying inconsolably as his mother checks for any injuries. She then signals the worried driver that the boy is alright. Another woman also rushes to calm down the visibly shaken boy.

The incident happened in Southampton, England last month. On YouTube, many accused the boy's mother of being negligent. Although, some said the driver should have been careful too.

"This could have been avoided if the woman held the child's hand crossing the road," wrote Scott Bayley.

"Unbelievable how unaware some parents can be! That was a second or two from a fatal accident. Anyone blaming the driver here needs stay indoors or only leave with proper supervision," said user Colin Fraser.

"The kids should not cross before the parents. I'm sorry but it is the parent at fault for not enforcing this and the child had to learn the hard way," wrote Samuel Bentley.

"Those yellow post in the middle of the road provide a safe place for pedestrians to stop and wait. This is not a pedestrian crossing and so the driver is under no obligation to stop for people in or entering this safe zone," said user ookland81.

"Driver should have recognised the hazard way back, slowed right down to a stop," wrote user ynotnilknarf39.

Hampshire Police said they were informed of the collision but no injuries were reported.
