A man's compassion towards a stranger on a New York subway has made him something of a hero on social media.
A video posted on Facebook on January 9 shows said man giving away the shirt off his back, literally, to a shirtless fellow passenger. Facebook user Lazaro El Feo caught it on camera and the video has since gone viral with over 13 million views and over 2.6 lakh shares.
The video shows the man, known as Jay, walking up to the shivering man and offering him his t-shirt. The recipient, visibly unwell, can be seen requesting Jay to help him with the t-shirt. Once the t-shirt is on, Jay also puts his cap on the stranger's head.
The heartwarming gesture makes one believe that kindness still exists across the world. It's also great to start the new year on such a positive note. The world could do with lots more of such happiness and warmth.
