On Tuesday night, a pipe burst in the city Butkit Batok, Singapore, created a water fountain about three-storey-high and flooded the whole street. The incident took place at the junction of Bukit Batok West Avenue 6 and West Avenue 8, and videos of the freak accident soon made their way online.
The pipe burst shot water up several metres in the air. At about 11pm, water was seen spouting at a height of up to 8 metres, reports Channel News Asia. The force of the water also took down a traffic light near the sight of the accident.
Bukit Batok resident Ong Ting Be, 63, told The Straits Times that the water was "like a waterfall... not just a narrow jet of water, but a whole expanse gushing out".
In a Facebook post shared on Wednesday morning, Singapore's National Water Agency PUB said that it had isolated the pipe leak at 1.50am and that repair works were ongoing.
Meanwhile, videos of the pipe burst were soon viral on Facebook.
