New Delhi: Is this the world's greatest dad? Consider the evidence - he can't read but he goes to adult literacy school and soon enough he can spell words while playing Scrabble, read from the back of the cereal box, and spell out 'I Love You' on the refrigerator for his wife to see.
One day, he can read well enough to tackle a book. He finishes the book. And it's only then that we realise this exercise in reading wasn't for his wife or for his Scrabble buddies.
It was for his son. He goes to see his son in a bar and tells him, "I read your book." His son raises a toast to him and so do we because we've seen him struggle to spell 'cat' and we know just what it took this father to make this particular long walk to freedom.
