Does Delhi know the lyrics to the national song of India, 'Vande Mataram'? You'll be startled when you find out the answer to this. YouTube channel SorteddTv took to the streets of Delhi and asked random strangers to sing it to them. The result was shameful.
From "I have to speak Vande Mataram (...giggle...side glances...more giggles)," "I forgot after school", "You tell me, I'll repeat" and "Nahi aata" to a version that no one has probably heard before and isn't Vande Mataram at all.
But they are not alone. Many Indians fall in this bracket. Some even confuse the national anthem and national song.
The forgotten verses of our national song represent patriotism and community spirit, shouldn't we know the song by heart?
