An American mother-to-be has found out that she's pregnant with two babies - but they are not twins.
At a routine ultrasound scan Julia and Todd Grovenberg from Fort Smith, Arkansas, couldn't believe it when they were told that Julia was carrying two babies - and more astonishingly, that they were conceived two and a half weeks apart.
The babies are not considered twins and experts describe the pregnancy as superfetation. That's when a child is conceived while the mother is already pregnant.
Before the pregnancy the Grovenbergs had been trying to have a baby without success and not wanting to turn to fertility treatments began looking into adoption. Now the couple are making plans for a boy and a girl due to be born at the end of the year.
Even though they're weeks apart, doctors are hoping that the boy baby catches up with his older sister before birth. There was some concern that he might have holes in his heart but a recent medical report said both babies are healthy.
