To celebrate International Women's Day, a popular watch brand has come out with a commercial that hopes to change perceptions surrounding women and their success at the workplace. The ad, posted yesterday on Facebook, is already winning praise with over 9.1 lakh views and over 13,000 shares.
It shows a high-level corporate meeting discussing recommendations for promotion submitted by their team heads. The first name on the list is Kiran, "the star of Rajat's team."
This employee seems to be an obvious candidate on the list of recommendations. "Young hai, fresher hai, par Rajat ko uspe pura bharosa hai," is how an executive describes Kiran. As he continues, all the top bosses, including a woman, imagine what Kiran must look like and the kind of work she undertakes with her boss.
The panel exchanges a few smirks and eventually summons "Rajat's recommendation." Only, they are in for a huge surprise.
We won't let you in on the revelation just yet. Watch the video below to understand why this ad looks to #breakthebias against women.
