Australia Zoo's first ever white koala joey is waiting to be named - and your suggestions are welcome on Facebook. Though the pale animal was born at the zoo in January, it was only unveiled to the public on Tuesday. Handlers at the Australia Zoo on Queensland's Sunshine Coast say the adorable joey owes its white fur to a recessive gene inherited from mother Tia.
The baby koala is not albino and the colour of her fur may change and deepen over time.
Experts say white koalas are extremely rare and probably wouldn't survive in the wild - where predators would be more likely to spot them.
Take a closer look at the white koala joey below:
The zoo is asking people to think of a name for her - and the suggestions are rolling in on Facebook. Among the suggestions are Pearl, Prakruti and Marshmallow.
