Muzaffarnagar: A 23-year-old has been arrested for allegedly murdering his father and dumping the body in a canal at Harsoli village under Shahpur police station, police said today.
Maherban, 60, who had been missing since January 9, was allegedly murdered by his son Mohsin over some family dispute, circle officer SP Sharma said.
Police, during the investigation over the missing complaint filed by the family of the deceased, interrogated Mohsin yesterday, who confessed to the crime.
Mohsin said that he murdered his father with the help of some accomplices and the body was thrown into Ganga canal, Mr Sharma said.
Police are yet to arrest the accomplices and a search is on to recover the body from the canal.
