Beside the existing six fire stations in the city, Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has set up the four temporary fire stations at Sadhu Gram in Nashik for the ongoing Kumbh Mela.
As many as 22 fire brigade teams have been formed to deal with any untoward incident or emergency, NMC chief fire officer Anil Mahajan said.
He said the fire tender fleet are equipped with quick response vehicles, advanced emergency rescue vans, breathing apparatuses and flood-rescue vans.
Eight fire brigade teams with rescue vans will be deployed at the temple town of Trimbakeshwar.
For carrying out rescue operations in narrow and crowded lanes of Nashik city and Trimakeshwar, water mist units placed on motorcycles will be used, he said.
Keeping in view that thousands of devotees will throng the two places during the mega festival, fire engineering diploma holder students will render service as volunteer from August 29 and during September, when the 'Shahi snan' (royal baths) will take place, the senior officer said.
To ensure safety of pilgrims at the ghats, life saver teams with swimmers will be deployed at the river bank with equipment like flood rescue launcher, life rings, life jackets and rubber boats.
In case of an emergency, pilgrims can alert the fire brigade officials on helpline numbers 101 and 1077, Mr Mahajan said
