Visakhapatnam: Nine persons were today killed and eight others injured when a government bus rammed into a stationary autorickshaw in Visakhapatnam, police said.
On its way to Rajahmundry from Rajam, the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation bus dashed into the rear-end of an autorickshaw while overtaking a car at Marikivalasa junction of Madhurawada mandal in Visakhapatnam, senior Police officer M Srinivas said.
Six persons, including three women, died on the spot in the mishap while three others succumbed on way to hospital, he said.
The injured were admitted to a local hospital, where the condition of four of them was stated to be critical, police said.
An irate mob damaged the bus after the accident.
