Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Police have registered a case against unknown persons for allegedly attacking a Nigerian national on Thursday night.

The complainant, who lives in the Tolichowki area of Hyderabad complained that a local man had allegedly commented on him when he was coming out of a mosque on Thursday evening.

The Banjara Hills police registered the case on charges of wrongful restraint and causing hurt. The complainant had alleged that the local was carrying a military knife.

A video shared by him shows a young man held by the collar by a group of Nigerians. The clip shows them questioning him, claiming he had a knife on him and had made unfavourable remarks on one of them.

Hyderabad West Zone Deputy Commissioner Police Venkateswara Rao, told NDTV that the police registered a case on the basis of the complaint but are yet to begin investigations.
