Builder Attempts Suicide Allegedly Over Harassment By Lenders

Police have registered a case under the Maharashtra Money Lending Act of 2014, but no arrest has been made so far.

Thane: A builder based in Wada in the neighbouring Palghar district in Maharashtra attempted suicide as he allegedly was fed up with the harassment from lenders, police said today.

Mahesh Patil, 42, had borrowed money from some local lenders two-three years ago.

But as he couldn't not repay the money, four of the lenders started pestering him and allegedly threatened to kill him and his family, police said, quoting Mr Patil's statement.

Mr Patil, who was depressed, consumed poison yesterday afternoon. He was admitted to hospital and was undergoing treatment.
