An alleged drug kingpin was arrested on Saturday in a raid and 16 kilograms of drugs along with three lakh rupees in cash was seized from his house, police said on Saturday.
Deep Ram, employed as a contractor in Totu, was arrested for drug peddling and 16 kilograms of opium and hashish along with three lakh rupees cash was seized from his house in a raid on Saturday, DW Negi, SP Shimla said.
The raid was conducted after Aman Thakur and Vipin Sharma were arrested from Divya Nagar in Totu on Friday and 10 grams of opium was seized from their possession.
They told the police during interrogation that they bought the contraband from Ram following which a raid was conducted at his house, Mr Negi said.
While Ram fled the spot, he was nabbed from Baddi in Solan district after police stations were alerted, the SP said.
Preliminary investigations reveal that Ram allegedly used to get the consignments of drugs, both charas and opium from Tuni on Himachal-Uttarakhand border and worked alone, Negi said.
