Dehradun: A 20-year-old engineering student was crushed under wheels of a roadways bus in Dehradun today.
Shubham Sachdev, a student of Dehradun Institute of Technology, was riding pillion on a scooty when a state transport bus hit their vehicle from behind.
The accident happened today while Shubham and his friend were returning from Mussoorie when a roadways bus allegedly hit the students near Gajji Bend.
"The impact of the collision was so much that Shubham was thrown onto the road and came under the wheels of the speeding bus," said Santosh Thapli, an eyewitness. According to bystanders, Shubham's friend received serious injuries and was rushed to Dehradun for treatment.
According to Mr Thapli the speeding bus came in around the Gajji Bend and while trying to overtake, hit the scooty from behind which led to Shubham's death.
The driver of the bus however managed to escape from the site.
Sub-Inspecter SK Panwar Mussoorie Police Station said, "The body of the student has been sent for postmortem and a case has been registered against the missing driver."
