Bathinda, Punjab:
Two inmates at the Central Jail in Punjab's Bathinda were injured in firing early this morning inside the prison complex in what is suspected to be a gang war. One of them, Gurjit Singh Mahalkalan, is a notorious criminal.
Both were rushed to hospital with gunshot wounds. Their condition is stated to be stable.
According to the police, Kulbir Singh Naruana, an undertrial in an arms case, is believed to be involved in the firing. Last month, Naruana was seen posing with four other inmates - one of them even talking on a cellphone - in a photograph posted on Facebook. The picture was later pulled off the social networking site.
