A 40-year-old married woman suffered burn injuries in an acid attack allegedly by a man with whom she was in an illicit relation, police said today.
T Vijaya Lakshmi, a resident of Peravalli village near Tenali town, received 30 per cent burns in the attack last night by one A Gangadhar Rao. She has been admitted to a Government Hospital in Tenali, they said.
Lakshmi, a housewife, was in a relationship with Rao and their ties had strained of late for some reason. She was attending a religious programme in Tenali when Rao called her aside and threw acid on her, police said.
He managed to escape from the spot.
Police have registered a case and launched a search for the attacker.
