Salem, Tamil Nadu:
A 39-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly trying to sexually assault a minor girl at a village in the district, police said today.
Muthusamy, a daily wage worker, took the seven-year-old girl, his neighbour, to a nearby forest area in Kannamoochi village, about 70 kms from Salem in Tamil Nadu yesterday and tried to sexually assault her. Hearing the cries of the girl, her parents and locals reached there and caught the man and handed him over to the police, All women Police Station Inspector Paavayee said.
He was arrested after registering a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
