Etah: A man was awarded one-year imprisonment in a cheque bounce case by a local court which also slapped a fine of Rs 20 lakh on him.
Convict Maya Prakash of Tatarapur village in Etah had borrowed Rs five lakh from Sarvesh Kumar of Jinehra village on April 27, 2010 and promised to return the money in a month's time.
Maya Prakash wrote a cheque in the name of Mr Kumar which was later deemed bounced by the Etah Gramin Bank owing to insufficient funds.
A case was filed by Mr Kumar following which Additional Judicial Magistrate Vijay Kumar today sentenced the punishment.
