Unidentified persons allegedly decamped with ornaments and cash worth over Rs 3 lakh from the bungalow of a Shiv Sena leader in Thane while she along with her family was off to Aurangabad for campaigning for the local body polls, police said.
The bungalow of Shiv Sena leader Meena Maruti Rathod in Dombivali area was also ransacked and set on fire, an official attached to Manpada police station said.
The leader was busy campaigning Aurangabad district's Kannad for a local body election, slated to be held on December 18. Her family was also in Kannad, said the official.
As per the complaint filed by Ms Rathod, she was informed about the incident by her neighbours, the official added.
Ornaments and cash worth Rs 3.12 lakh were stolen, police said, adding a case under relevant sections of IPC has been registered in this regard.
