Panaji: The construction of an ambitious ropeway providing a 'bird's eye view' of Panaji city and Mandovi river will begin this month, state Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar has said.
"We have shortlisted three companies of which one would be given the work to construct ropeway between Panaji and Reis-Magos village across river Mandovi," he told reporters yesterday.
The State Tourism Board, which will meet tomorrow, will announce the name of the company which will be eligible to construct the ropeway, he said.
The project will facilitate bird's eye view of Panaji city and Mandovi river, he added.
The project would be operated on a Design-Build-Finance-Operate-Transfer (DBFOT) basis. The minister said that the project would be completed within 12-18 months and would carry cable cars.
