Jamshedpur: The body of a standard four student has been found after she was allegedly gang-raped and murdered in Jharkhand's West Singhbhum district, police said today.

The girl had gone missing on Thursday after returning from school and her undressed body was found among bushes near Behda village on Friday morning.

Her face was found to have been crushed with stones, Goilkera police station officer-in-charge Patras Nag said.

Prima facie it suggested that the girl was raped and murdered but the number of people involved in the crime was yet to be established, he said.

The girl had gone to wash her clothes in a nearby 'nullah' soon after returning from the school yesterday but did not return home.

The family members searched for her but could not trace her till late last night. When they resumed the search on Friday morning her brother spotted her clothes kept in a bucket and one of her slippers. Her body was found hidden in the bush with her face crushed with stones.
