A magisterial probe has been ordered into the death of 17 people in a major fire at a cracker factory in Badnagar, 70 kms from Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh.
The owner of the factory has also been detained after an FIR was registered against him
The cracker factory, located near Khob Darwaza area in the city, caught fire around 4.45 pm, Additional Superintendent of Police Pankaj Shrivastava told PTI.
Three children were among those killed.
According to police, the factory belonged to one Yusuf Hussain, who was immediately detained.
The cause of the fire has not yet been ascertained. Fire tenders were rushed to the site, which managed to control the blaze after over an hour.
Seven people were injured in the fire and they are being treated at a local hospital.
