At least 10 people were killed, and several others injured in two separate incidents of wall collapse in Uttar Pradesh Etawah following incessant rain in the region, officials have said.
Normal life has been adversely affected due to heavy rain across the state over the last three days. Apart from Etawah, deaths have also been reported from some other districts, including Firozabad and Balrampur.
Four children died after a wall of their house collapsed in Etawah's Chandrapura, while an elderly couple died after a boundary wall of a petrol pump collapsed onto their hut in Kripalpur.
In another incident, a 35-year-old man was killed after his house in Etawah's Andava ke Bangla village collapsed following heavy rain.
The fourth incident was reported from Ajmat Ali area where three children died after a wall of their house collapsed.
The weather office has predicted heavy rain and thunderstorms in Uttar Pradesh over the next few days.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday conducted an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas and directed concerned authorities to expedite relief operations.
