Patna:
A Rs 100 crore dairy with a capacity of four lakh litres milk and 30 tonne milk powder and tetra pack plants would be set up at Hajipur in Bihar's Vaishali district.
Union Finance Minister would lay the foundation stone of the dairy during his visit to the state some time next month, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said while inaugurating the 29th foundation day of the Bihar state Milk Cooperative Federation Limited in Hajipur.
He directed the Communication for Education and Development (COMFED) Chairman-cum-Principal Secretary and other officials to start work on the dairy.
Stating that the union finance minister would also launch the agriculture roadmap for Bihar, he said that Bihar had set a record in production of potato, paddy and wheat under the first agriculture roadmap.
The agriculture roadmap for 2012-2017 prepared by the state laid thrust on increasing income of farmers, promote poultry, fisheries, horticulture and dairies, he said.
Mr Kumar said that the chilling plant in Hajipur had paved the way for storage of 1.50 lakh litre of milk for storage.
He also distributed Rs 6.44 crore among 124 milk cooperatives and farmers for better performance.
