Bagaha, Bihar: A woman was mauled to death and a girl injured in a crocodile attack in near Tirput canal in Valmikinagar Tiger Reserve area today.
The crocodile, which was resting in a field in the tiger reserve in Bihar's West Champaran district, attacked the 40 year-old woman and 14 year-old girl while they were working there, District Forest Officer (DFO) Nandkishore said.
The reptile had strayed from a nearby canal and the farm workers were unaware of its presence, he said, adding search is on to trace it.
The woman died on the spot and the girl was rushed to a nearby hospital, he said.
