Brother, sister sent home for dressing shabbily in school

Patna: The Bihar government has ordered a probe into the complaint by a rickshaw puller that his son and daughter were sent home from a government school in Bihar's Patna district for being dressed shabbily.

The siblings, Akash and Jyoti studying in standard I and III respectively, were sent home by the teacher of the government middle school in Anisabad colony, their father, a rickshaw puller complained to Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi on Tuesday.

"On hearing the complaint I telephoned the Patna District Education Officer to investigate the matter," Mr Modi told reporters at the 'Janata ke Darbar me Upmukhya Mantri' where the two children were present.

When contacted, Patna District Education Officer Arun Kumar Sharma said that he had asked the district programme officer of Sarva Siksha Abhiyan to look into the complaint.
