Patna:
A first-year student of Patna Medical College and Hospital allegedly committed suicide,
prompting Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to order a probe.
Sunny Kumar (17), a resident of Saran district, hanged himself from a ceiling fan at a private lodge on Wednesday in Sultanganj, city SP Manu Maharaj said.
"We have not recovered any suicide note from the place. Even his father has not said anything about it," the police official said.
On learning about the incident, Chief Minister Kumar asked the Senior Superintendent of Police B S Meena and District Magistrate J K Sinha to jointly probe the case, especially into allegations of ragging and submit a report immediately, officials said.
Meanwhile, Ashwini Kumar, an MBA student, also committed suicide by hanging himself at his house in S K Puri area in Patna on Thursday morning, officials said, adding, the reason
prompting the student to take the extreme step remains to be known.
