Patna:
An autorickshaw driver and his three other friends were arrested on Saturday in connection with the gangrape of a 16 year-old girl from Burnpur in West Bengal, Senior Superintendent of Police Alok Kumar said.
The victim along with her friend Ravi, reached Patna junction by Tata-Patna Express on the night of April 13 and boarded an autorickshaw to go to their relative's house at Kadamkuan in the state capital, Kumar told reporters.
Both of them picked up a quarrel midway and Ravi disembarked from the vehicle, he said.
Taking advantage of the situation, the autorickshaw driver, identified as Ravindra Yadav alias Gopi, then misled the girl and took her to Aagamkuan instead of Kadamkuan where he connived with his five other waiting colleagues.
All the six then took the girl to an isolated place and took turns in committing the crime, the SSP said adding they later threw the victim at Masaurhi in an unconscious state.
The victim was brought here and hospitalised, the SSP said.
Based on her statement, a police team led by City Superintendent of Police S V Lande conducted raids and arrested Ravindra and three others, Kumar said.
Raids were on in different areas to apprehend the other two persons involved, he added.
