Patna: At least three people, including women, drowned and nearly 10 people went missing after an overcrowded boat capsized in the Ganga river in Bihar's Begusarai district early on Thursday, an official said.
Three bodies have been recovered and two injured are admitted to a hospital, said Begusarai District Magistrate Manoj Kumar.
The ferry, which could seat only 12 but was carrying 30 people, capsized near Madharpur Ghat in the Begusarai district, about 125 km from Patna.
About a dozen people managed to swim to safety. Some were rescued by local villagers, Manoj Kumar said.
Search operations are on and an inquiry has been ordered, Manoj Kumar added.
