Here's a five-point profile on BJP's CR Patil
Chandrakant Raghunath Patil was born on March 16, 1955, in Pimpri Akaraut village in Maharashtra's Jalgaon. He joined Gujarat Police as a constable in 1975 and resigned 14 years later in 1984. He started Navgujarat Times, a Gujarat Daily, in 1991.
Mr Patil joined the BJP in 1989 where he first served as the Surat city treasurer and then as the vice president for Surat City BJP. In 1998, he was appointed chairman of State PSU Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Limited (GACL) by the then Chief Minister of Gujarat, Keshubhai Patel.
Mr Patil has been elected to the Lok Sabha thrice from Navsari constituency - in 2009, 2014, and 2019. He won by a margin of 6.89 lakh votes in the 2019 general elections.
He was appointed president of the BJP Gujarat unit in July 2020. He succeeded Jitendrabhai Vaghani.
Mr Patil has been a member of various committees including the Standing Committee on Housing and Urban Affairs and the General Purposes Committee, Lok Sabha.
