Firms Headed by Indian-Origin Persons in Fortune's Fastest-Growing US Businesses List

Six firms founded and headed by persons of Indian-origin are among the 100 fastest-growing businesses located in American cities, according to a list by Fortune and The Initiative for a Competitive Inner City. These are: Detroit, Michigan-headquartered FutureNet Group; Seattle, Washington-based True Fabrications; New York-based InfoPeople Corporation; Compton, California-based Westcoast Trucking, and two Hartford, Connecticut-based firms - Express Kitchens and Star Hardware.

Perry Mehta (left) is the CEO of FutureNet Group. The Detroit, Michigan-based construction, environmental, technology and security services firm is ranked 17th in the list.

Next is New York-based InfoPeople Corporation, headed by Shyam Gulati (right). The software project development and infrastructure management firm holds the 30th position in the list. (Photo: stern.nyu.edu)

At the 43rd spot in the list is Seattle-based True Fabrications. Founded in 2003 by its CEO Dhruv Agarwal in his garage, the firm is a wine lifestyle brand and a marketer for thousands of wine retailers around the world.

At the 67th position in the list is Express Kitchens, headed by Max Kothari (second from right). Since its founding in 2002, the Hartford, Connecticut-based firm has grown to over 105 employees, seven locations, and it increasingly competes with industry titans Home Depot and Lowes on service and quality.
