Automobile manufacturers showcased many new models at India's flagship automobile show in Greater Noida hoping that new variants will help revive consumer sentiment at a time when the sector is going through a prolonged slump. Here are a few of them.

Here are a few of the new models unveiled at the auto show. Maruti Suzuki India launched the much awaited Celerio hatchback (pictured here) at a starting price of Rs. 3.90 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The automated manual transmission (AMT) version starts at Rs. 4.29 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Toyota's first ever crossover, Etios Cross made it global debut in Brazil, last year and now the company has brought it to India. Despite sharing the platform with the Etios Liva hatchback, the Etios Cross looks more rugged and sportier than the regular model.

Jaguar F-Type R Coupe is the successor to the legendary E-Type. It combines the sporty character and premium feel that is much associated with Jaguar flawlessly.

The new Honda Jazz compact crossover was showcased at the Auto Expo. Honda will offer the new Jazz in both petrol and diesel fuel engine options.

Renault rolled out the updated Fluence at Rs 14.22 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Though the car looks identical to its predecessor, the new bumper, revised front grille, new alloys and daytime running LEDs, give it a sporty character. In terms of equipment, the car now gets a new infotainment system with Sat-Nav (satellite navigation), R-link infotainment system and a new instrument cluster that now has analog and digital displays.

Ford unveiled the 2014 Fiesta which will replace the existing generation Fiesta in India. The new Ford Fiesta now has a new common family face with a trapezoidal front grille, with laser-cut headlights. What adds more to its overall personality is the power-dome hood design. The tail-lamps too have gone through detailing and are now bigger in size, giving the car an improved stance.

After a long wait, the updated Chevrolet Beat has finally made its Indian debut. Wearing the new automatic headlamps, new front grille, fog lamps, and new front bumper, the new Beat facelift appears to be sportier, stylish and more outgoing than its previous model. The rear too gets updated with new tail lamps, stylish rear spoiler, redesigned rear bumper and high mounted stop light.

The new Hyundai Santa Fe is based on the company's most popular Fluidic-derived Strom edge design philosophy and looks more aggressive and sportier than its predecessor. Prices start at Rs 26.3 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and the SUV will be available in three variants, the company said.

Maruti announced its foray into a new segment by unveiling SX4 S-CROSS concept, which it says “combines compact-car know-how, from models such as Swift, with high performance technologies honed for sports utility vehicles.”

Tata Motors unveiled the Jump aka Nexon compact SUV. The new Nexon SUV is built on the same X1 platform, on which Vista and the new Falcon family cars are being developed. The new Jump compact SUV will be Tata Motors' answer to the Ford EcoSport, Renault Duster and likes.

Based on its popular Brio hatchback platform, the new Honda Mobilio multipurpose vehicle looks very young and sporty. The new Honda Mobilio MPV will directly compete with the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Chevrolet Enjoy and Nissan Evalia.

Ford showcased the Ford Figo compact sedan concept, announcing its foray into this sub-4 metre sedan segment. The company has not revealed any launch plans for this compact sedan concept built on the same platform as the EcoSport.

Nissan India unveiled the much awaited Sunny facelift with some vital alterations at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo. With a new grille that has three horizontal slats and chrome inserts, new fog lamps, redesigned headlights, front bumper, air dam and chrome ascent, the 2014 Sunny facelift looks more aggressive than before.

Harley Davidson launched Street 750, its first made-in-India bike at Rs 4.10 lakh. The Street 750 will be the cheapest Harley Davidson bike in the Indian market. Bookings for the Street 750 will start from March 1, 2014, the company said.

BMW's i8 Electric Hybrid Supercar has finally made its Indian debut at the Auto Expo. The gasoline engine delivers power to the front wheels of the car, while the electric motor transmits power to rear wheels. Boosted with both the power sources, this hybrid supercar can accelerate to 100 kmph from standstill within 4.5 seconds. The car impresses equally with its fuel efficiency figures. It returns a class-leading 40kmpl of mileage.

The high capacity battery which basically runs the show can power the Halo from 0-100km/h in less than 7 seconds while the top-speed is claimed to be in excess of 200km/h.
