How Mumbai, India's ‘Most Expensive' City, Ranks Globally
Mumbai has been ranked as the most expensive city in India, according to travel website TripAdvisor's sixth edition of TripIndex Cities. The annual report compares the cost of a three-night break during summer travel from June to September in 27 key cities around the world.

The financial capital of the country, however, is the second least expensive destination in the world to visit after Hanoi.

New York is the most expensive city globally, where a three-day break for Indian travellers will cost an estimated Rs 1,24,201.

It is over three times costlier compared to Mumbai, according to the TripAdvisor report.

In terms of transport, Tokyo offers the most expensive taxi ride at Rs 7,736 - six times more compared to New Delhi (Rs 1,224) and over 12 times more compared to Mumbai (Rs 628), the report noted.

New Delhi, which has the most expensive taxi fares in India, is two-three times more expensive than the cost of taxi rides in international cities like Hanoi, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Moscow and Bali.
