ITC Tops Fortune's List of Most Admirable Companies

Fortune has released its third annual list for India's most admired companies. For 2014, FMCG ITC has replaced Tata group's IT giant TCS as the country's most admired company.ITC scored the highest on parameters such as corporate governance, endurance, social impact, product quality and employee empowerment.

The research is based on a unique peer ranking methodology. These parameters included corporate governance, endurance, impact on society, investment value, product/service quality, innovation, quality of leadership, talent development, employee empowerment and business footprint.

ITC is followed by engineering and infrastructure major Larsen and Toubro in the Fortune's list.L&T was rated highest on leadership by the Fortune.

Hindustan Unilever: Another FMCG giant Hindustan Unilever stands third in the Fortune list.

HUL has been rated highest on investment, talent development, product quality, leadership, innovativeness and global footprint.

Maruti Suzuki: Carmaker Maruti Suzuki is the India's fourth most admired company, according to the Fortune magazine.

Fortune placed public sector bank State Bank of India at fifth position in its list.

IT giant TCS, which had topped the Fortune's list for last year, slipped to the 6th spot this year.

Indian division of beverages giant Coca Cola was 7th in the Fortune's list of most admired companies.

Korean phone maker Samsung's Indian arm was placed at the eighth position in this list.

Auto maker Tata Motors was ninth in the Fortune's list.

ONGC: State owned ONGC featured 10th in this list
