On its launch, Hiroyuki Suzuki, CEO and MD of Yamaha Motor India said, “India is one of the key markets for Yamaha and we have been constantly shifting gears to transform the market from utility to pleasure & lifestyle. Yamaha offers innovative designs, sporty looks and premium features across models as part of its strategy to give consumers a new thrill in biking.”

The biggest advantage that Yamaha FZ1 has is its price range. Yamaha has fixed the FZ1 price lesser than Honda CB1000R which has been so far the cheapest among the imported superbikes. Yamaha, which sells super bikes in the range of Rs 14-24 lakh, plans to sell over 80-100 super bikes in India in 2010.
