10 Dresses We Loved on the Cannes Red Carpet 2015

While some may say fashion is over-emphasized at the Cannes Film Festival, we ask how can it not be? When celebrities show up looking like Charlize Theron did, in her Dior dress like a ray of sunshine and on the arm of boyfriend Sean Penn, it's easy to forget that they are there for the films, as she was for the premiere of her movie Mad Max: Fury Road. Here our favourite dresses, apart from Charlize's, from the red carpet this year.

Lupita Nyong'o twirled in a green Gucci gown, as light as a feather, at the screening of Standing Tall.

Designer label Elie Saab shed quite a few feathers on the red carpet. Sonam Kapoor's grass-like number may have been a disaster, but Naomi Watts in silver at the screening of Standing Tall was the standout dress.

Cate Blanchett may have lost the Best Actress award to her Carol co-star Rooney Mara, but she was a winner in this Armani Prive dress cinched at the waist by an obi belt at the screening of Sicario.

Marion Cotillard wore Dior, as she does, to great effect at the premiere of The Little Prince.

Actress Eva Longoria looked royal in blue Atelier Versace at the premiere of Carol.

Emma Stone added sparkle to the red carpet in Dior at the screening of her film Irrational Man.

Julianne Moore, dressed in Givenchy, had all eyes on her at the premiere of Mad Max: Fury Road.

Desi belle Sonam Kapoor's first look at the Cannes, a cobalt blue Ralph & Russo ballgown that she wore to the premiere of The Sea of Trees earned full marks from fashion critics.

Ralph & Russo also redeemed Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who recovered from an initial red carpet hiccup in a black and white dress with architectural folds.
