2009: Red carpet dazzlers

From Aishwarya Rai to Barbari Mori to Frieda Pinto, here's a look at some red carpet stunners in the year 2009.

Frieda Pinto, who rose to instant fame after the success of Slumdog Millionaire, walked the red carpet this year with poise and elegance.

Frieda wore a blue John Galliano for her first-ever appearance at the Oscars. In her post and prior red carpets events like the BAFTAS and Screen Guild Awards the actress chose to wear simple yet elegant gowns and stole the show from the likes of Angelina Jolie and Penelope Cruz.

India's ambassador at Cannes - Aishwarya Rai Bachchan on Day 1 looked drop dead gorgeous gliding down the red carpet in a strapless white Roberto Cavalli gown. According to reports the gown was worth Rs 5 million.

Latino babe Barbara Mori also walked the red carpet at 62nd Cannes Film Festival this year for the promotion of her upcoming movie Kites. The hot actress was dressed in a black Roberto Cavalli gown.

Miss World 2008 runner up, Parvathy Omanakuttan was also spotted at Cannes this year.

British actress Rachel Weisz looked like a green Goddess at Cannes this year. The actress chose to wear a sweeping Valentino strapless jade gown to walk the red carpet.

Bollywood's leading lady Priyanka Chopra was dressed to kill in a gorgeous blue off-shouldered gown when she came to receive her Filmfare Best Actress award.

Spanish actress Penelope Cruz, who won the Best Supporting Actress for Vicky Christina Barcelona at this year's Oscars, decided to wear a vintage dress by Pierre Balmain which she had chosen eight years ago.

Bollywood's girl-next-door Dia Mirza sizzled at the IIFA Awards 2009, dressed in light pink gown.

Fashion girl Kangana Ranaut's designed by Rick Roy was the talk of the town. It was reported that she was asked to maintain the weight of the heavy gown and keep it between 25-30kg. The designer used crystals on 250 meters of pink fabric for this gown.

Actress Anne Hathaway sparkled in a strapless champagne-colored Armani Prive gown covered in crystals and circular pailettes with a jeweled dragon brooch on the back at this year's Oscars.

Oscar winner Kate Winslet wore a sophisticated gray satin and black tulle dress by Atelier Yves Saint Laurent, Stefano Pilati.

Actress Natalie Portman went for a pink gems studded Rodarte draped dress at Oscars 2009.

Madonna wore black for the Oscars. A strappy, corset dress, the body of which seemed to be made from a satin fabric in contrast to the jersey like fabric (also black).

Jessica Biel wore a sleek Prada strapless column gown in shiny white satin with a bow detail on the front.
