The actor, who had already served 18 months of his sentence, was moved to Pune's Yerwada jail on May 22 to complete the remaining jail term of 42 months.

Before the year was out, Sanjay Dutt went home on leave twice. On October 1 he was granted two weeks leave on medical grounds and then an extension of two weeks. After spending all of October at home in Mumbai, he was given another month off in December, citing his wife's illness. This created a stir after Maanyata Dutt was spotted partying in Mumbai at the same time her husband's leave was granted. -
Salman Khan's court cases: No blockbuster for Salman this year but he continued to generate headlines as the 2002 hit-and-run case kept the actor in and out of courts with a sessions court framing charges against him for culpable homicide not amounting to murder, which carries a maximum sentence of 10 years. Salman was previously being tried for rash and negligent driving which prescribed a two-year jail term.

Kamal Haasan's Vishwaroopam blacked out: The beginning of the year saw Kamal Haasan's much anticipated spy thriller Vishwaroopam in the news for all the wrong reasons. First, the Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners Association threatened a complete boycott of the film, when Mr Haasan announced a direct-to-home premiere of the film. The DTH launch of the film was cancelled and the release date was postponed from January 10 to January 25.
On January 23, two days before the release of the film, the Tamil Nadu government banned the screening of Vishwaroopam in the state after Muslim groups expressed concern that the film could disturb communal harmony. Soon, protests against the movie spread to neighbouring Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Kerala and screenings of the movie were affected. Calling it 'cultural terrorism,' the actor filed a petition in the Madras High Court. On January 29, the ban was lifted by the court but the government appealed against that verdict and won.
It was only on February 1 that the actor reached an agreement with Muslim groups to edit seven scenes from the film which they had found objectionable. The film finally released on February 7 and had fetched Rs 120 crore in first four days. -
Shah Rukh Khan and son AbRam: After months of rumours, Shah Rukh Khan confirmed on July 9 that he and wife Gauri had a new son, born via surrogacy and named AbRam. "Amidst all the noise that has been going around, the sweetest is the one made by our newborn baby, AbRam. He was born prematurely by several months, but has finally come home," Shah Rukh had said in a statement.
The actor also rubbished reports that they had used sex determination tests ahead of AbRam's birth. "Just to put the record straight there was no sex determination for our child. The baby was born much before the speculations of 'sex determination' and other 'issues' pertaining to the same were being raised in the media by some organisations. Suffice to say his coming home puts to rest completely false and at times insensitive claims of sex determination and alleged illegalities," he said. -

He doesn't need me, I don't need him."

Aamir Khan is one of Time's 100: The Satyamev Jayate effect spilled over from 2012 into 2013, propelling Aamir Khan into Time Magazine's list of 100 Most Influential People as a ‘pioneer.' A R Rahman wrote for Time: "A man of his word. His movies are commercial successes — Lagaan was nominated for an Academy Award — but they also display a sense of social responsibility: they tackle important themes, like poverty and education. He uses his gifts as a charmer to give his audience the most bitter medicine. Hypnotized, we take it without complaint. That's Aamir's magic at work."
The actor also featured on one of the seven special edition covers of the 2013 Time 100 issue and also attended the Time celebratory dinner in New York where he hung out with Oscar winning actor Daniel Day-Lewis at the party. -

While her fiance Brad Pitt hailed her as 'absolutely heroic,' celebrities welcomed her decision calling her 'sexier than ever.' -
Miley Cyrus twerks, leaves MTV crowd stunned: The former Disney princess completed the dismantling of her previous Hannah Montana image in a spectacularly risqué style at the MTV Video Music Awards on August 25 with a raunchy bump-and-grind against fellow musician Robin Thicke.
