68th Golden Globes: Who Said What!

Oscar's slightly irreverent cousin, the Golden Globes stood up to their reputation here on the evening of 16th January, 2011. Stars had a lot to say, all in good fun!

  • "I don't know if this qualifies as gentle reassurance, but right now this is all that stands between me and a Harley-Davidson." — Colin Firth accepting the Best Dramatic Actor award for The King's Speech and how it validates him as he grows older.
  • "He's the best actor. It's not true — he totally wants to sleep with me," — Natalie Portman, joking about her fiance Benjamin Millepied, who had a cameo in her film, Black Swan, in which he says he wouldn't want to sleep with her.
  • "The important thing we are all in this together. The filmmakers who make the movies and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association members who in turn pose for pictures with the movie stars." — Robert De Niro upon accepting the Cecil B. DeMille lifetime achievement award.
  • "There's gotta be an easier way to get a standing ovation." — Michael Douglas, while presenting the final award for Best Drama Film.
  • "Somehow all of these women rendered exquisite performances without a shred of help from me, so I guess I'm just saying, I'd give it to all five of you. At once. The award ..." — Robert Downey Jr., in a bawdy presentation of the award for best comedic actress in a motion picture that started with him joking that he'd slept with all the nominees.
  • "Wow, were you two even born when the first 'Toy Story' came out?" — "Toy Story 3" director Lee Unkrich to 14-year-old actress Hailee Steinfeld and 16-year-old singer Justin Bieber, who presented him the award for best animated film.
  • "I think I just dropped my heart between Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore. So if anyone sees that, please give it back to me." — Chris Colfer accepting his best supporting actor winner award for his role on the TV series "Glee."
  • "I'm a little jacked up because I ate five boxes of the free Godiva chocolates. I just saw Godiva chocolate. I've never seen so many Godiva chocolates. And Halle Berry." — Paul Giamatti, winner of Best Actor, Musical or Comedy for Barney's Version.
  • "Look Mama, I got a Golden Globe!" — Melissa Leo on winning a supporting actress award for her role in "The Fighter."
  • "I am nothing if not falsely humble." — Jane Lynch, accepting her award for best supporting actress in a TV series.
  • "I'm going to try to talk fast before that sad music comes on." — Steve Buscemi, accepting the best actor in a TV series drama for his role on "Boardwalk Empire."
  • "It's going to be a night of partying and heavy drinking. Or as Charlie Sheen calls it — breakfast." — Host Ricky Gervais in his opening monologue.
