90's Divas

  • Bollywood's sweetheart Kajol looked her best at the beginning of her career of her career. A unibrowed and innocent Kajol grew on us with movies like Baazigar, Karan Arjun and Yeh Dillagi .

After the release of Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge people started liking Kajol more for her extraordinary screen presence and acting. The rest, as they say, is history.
  • She of the million dollar smile, Madhuri made a million hearts go dhak dhak with her supreme dance moves and extraordinary beauty in films like Dil, Prahaar, Khalnayak, Hum Aapke Hain Kaun...! and Beta. And guess what? She's still got it!
  • With her chirpy voice and bubbly appearance, Juhi Chawla brought smiles to our faces time again with movies like Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman and Hum Hain Rahi Pyaar Ke. More often than not, she had us splitting our sides with laughter, all thanks to her superb comic timing.
  • Soon after Karisma made her Bollywood debut, she won hearts with her confused damsel in distress role in Andaz Apna Apna. Later her perfect figure and hot dance moves in Dil To Pagal Hai and the passionate kiss with Aamir Khan in Raja Hindustani took the cake away, making Karisma hot property in Bollywood.
  • Sridevi's transformation from the Southern belle to the savvy diva in the song Kaate Nahi Kat Te from Mr India made everyone sit up and take notice. With a lineup like Nagina, Chaalbaaz, Lamhe and Chandni, Sridevi was a major force to reckon with.
  • With enviable curves and an attitude to match, Urmila's always had filmmakers on her side. She showed us just the right amount of skin in Rangeela and then played a whole different ball game in Aflatoon, Judaai and Satya. We'd love to see more of her.
  • Plucking eyebrows worked wonders for this one too, but not without some hair-taming and a new make-up artist. Shilpa was doing decently well in the 90s with Baazigar and others but found real fame and fortune post her stint in the UK reality show Big Brother.
  • Ilu Ilu girl Manisha Koirala grabbed all the eyeballs and the top roles with movies like Dil Se and Agnisakshi. We hear she's planning a comeback soon. All the luck in the world to her!
  • Today she is classy and well-dressed, but back in the 90s Raveena started off with a rather 'healthy', for want of a better word, look. But like many others, dancing in the rain in Mohra did the trick for her.
  • Sonali's steamy scenes, not to forget the rare near-perfect body, with Aamir in Sarfarosh set the temperature rising.
  • Mamta Kulkarni was way too bold for her time. Lesser known for her work in films like Waqt Hamara Hai, Krantiveer, Karan Arjun and Sabse Bada Khiladi, the actress made headlines when she appeared topless on the cover of a magazine.
  • When she made her debut in Aashiqui opposite Rahul Roy, no one expected the film to do well. But Anu Agarwal's way too hot to handle there.
Throughout the 90s, she appeared, on and off, on the silver screen but failed to make a dent in the big, bad world of Bollywood.
