Aditya Chopra, born on May 21, 1971, is the elder son of late director Yash Chopra and his wife Pamela. He went to Mumbai's Bombay Scottish School and graduated from Hassaram Rijhumal College of Commerce and Economics where his college mates were filmmakers Karan Johar and Abhishek Kapoor.

On April 21, 2014, Aditya Chopra and long-time partner Rani Mukerji married in a private ceremony in Italy.

Aditya Chopra formally took over as the head of Yash Raj Films after his father died of dengue-related complications in October 2012. His first film as the new chairman, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, released in November 2012. Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Yash Chopra's swan song, starred Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma.
