As we wait for Allu Arjun's latest film to hit the screen, here's a look at this South superstar's journey so far.
-
Acting comes naturally to this ‘stylish star' of Telugu cinema. His father is the well-known producer, Allu Aravind. His grandfather was the legendary Telugu comedian, Padma Sri late Allu Ramalingaiah. Allu Arjun is the nephew of South superstar Chiranjeevi. His cousin Ram Charan Teja too is a rising star in South.
-
With such strong acting genes, it is no surprise that the actor's own break in the industry came at the age of 20. Director K. Raghavendra Rao gave him his first break in Telugu film Gangotri, opposite Aditi Agarwal. The movie was well-received at the box office.
-
Allu Arjun found great success with his second film Arya in 2004.
-
The following year Allu Arjun delivered his third consecutive box office hit with Bunny. He was cast with Southern stars Prakash Raj and Gowri Munjal.
-
However, Happy, directed by A. Karunakaran opposite Genelia D'Souza met with average success.
-
In Puri Jagannadh's Desamuduru, Allu Arjun sported six-pack abs, becoming the first Telugu hero to do so.
-
The film, also starring Hansika Motwani, went on to become one of the biggest grossers of the year. Desamudrudu was remade in Malayalam as Hero.
-
Allu Arjun with Sheela and Prakash Raj in lead roles featured in director Bhaskar's Parugu. According to reports, the movie raked in Rs 21 crores in 3 weeks.
Parugu was later dubbed in Malayalam as Krishna, which was also a blockbuster. -
In 2009, the sequel of Allu Arjun's 2004 film Arya 2 was released. Allu Arjun was paired opposite Kajal Aggarwal. The sequel received a good initial response but soon landed in hot water over the Telangana issue. Chiranjeevi's stand on Telangana became one of the reasons for Arya 2 to face boycott and the film floundered tasting not even a semblance of success which the original enjoyed.
-
After the debacle of Arya 2, the duds continued with films such as the big-budget Varudu. However, Allu Arjun wrapped up 2010 on a high with Vedam, which was lauded for its action scenes.
