Bollywood beauty Anushka Sharma brought in her 24th birthday with a group of close friends including rumoured ex-beau Ranveer Singh. A look at the exclusive pics from the party.

Anushka Sharma who celebrates her 24th birthday today is currently working for Vishal Bhardwaj's forthcoming movie, Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola opposite Imran Khan.

Anushka, who made a dream debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, has also bagged a role in Yash Chopra's next untitled film, in which she once again teams up with King Khan.

There had been rumours about the actress dating cricketer Suresh Raina. However, Anushka not only denied them but also claimed not to know him at all.

Anushka was born in Bangalore to Col. Ajay Kumar and Ashima Sharma. Her parents originally hail from Uttarakhand. She has an elder brother named Karnesh, who was a state-level cricketer and is now in the Merchant Navy. She studied in Army School and graduated with specialisation in arts from Mount Carmel College, Bangalore. She later moved to Mumbai to pursue her modelling career.

Anushka has wanted to be a model ever since she was little. She enrolled in the Elite Modelling Agency and was groomed by style consultant Prasad Bidappa, whom she met when she was just 15 years old.

In 2007, she participated at the Lakme Fashion Week as a model for Wendell Rodricks's Les Vamps Show and was picked to be the designer's show-stopper.

After that there was no looking back for this starry-eyed beauty as she signed several modelling assignments and television commercials including Silk & Shine, Nathella Jewellery and Fiat Palio.

Movies were not on her agenda till Anushka's family moved to Mumbai and her agency sent her pictures to Yash Raj Films. After a few auditions, she was officially cast opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi for the female lead, Taani. A film critic said, "Anushka looks the character and surprises you with a confident performance. It's no small achievement to share screen space with an actor of the calibre of SRK and Anushka manages it very well from start to end." The role fetched Anushka a Best Actress nomination at the Filmfare Awards.

Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi was followed by Badmaash Company opposite Shahid Kapoor, where she played spunky con girl, Bulbul.

In 2010, Anushka completed her three film contract with Yash Raj films, starring in Band Baaja Baaraat. This was her star-making film and she was nominated for a slew of awards, including a second Best Actress at Filmfare, and winning at the IIFA and Apsara awards.

Her first venture outside Yash Raj banner, Patiala House opposite Akshay Kumar flopped at the box office. But the actress received positive reviews for her role.

Her on and off screen chemistry with her Band Baaja Baaraat co-star Ranveer Singh have always made headlines. Apparently, the two fell in love on the sets of the film and were frequently spotted together at social events.

They starred together in Anushka's last movie, Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl.

“Just good friends” is what the couple claimed to be for the past one-year. But rumour has it that actress Sonakshi Sinha is the reason behind their break-up.

Anushka's rising popularity in Bollywood has also increased her brand value. She was honoured as the celebrity endorser for Reliance Communications Limited at the NDTV Good Times Gadget Guru Awards held recently.

Anushka's one of the stars leading Bollywood's fashion pack, with Sonam and Kalki. She's also graced the covers of magazines like Vogue, Grazia, L'Officiel and Maxim.
