Ash ruins a 24 carat look at Cannes
After her out-of-character blue Gucci dress, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan played safe with one of her favourite colours, gold. She wore a shimmering Tarun Tahiliani sari at the amfAR gala.

We're also baffled by her high-necked blouse. Why won't Ash just wear a sexy choli with her saris? Remember the jacket she wore with her Abu-Sandeep sari last year? And the long-sleeved, all-covered-up black blouse she wore with the black and gold Sabyasachi sari this year?
The matronly blouse stops us being a fan of what could be a 24 carat look.
Coming Up: Pop goes Aishwarya at Cannes -
The intricate work and the heavy fabric did not flatter Ash's figure unlike her previous appearances. And we wish she had worn her hair up instead of down. Lesson for Ash: Leave Abu-Sandeep for mom-in-law Jaya Bachchan.
Coming up: Move over Vidya, Sonam: Ash is at Cannes -
One of Cannes' most treasured veterans, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan made her much-awaited appearance on this year's red carpet in a black lace Elie Saab couture dress. The actress was attending the screening of the film Inside Llewyn Davis presented in Competition at the 66th edition of the Cannes Film Festival.

This year's Elie Saab, a favourite Ash designer, far outshines 2012's dark grey belted dress. Happily, Ash ditched mom-in-law Jaya's go-to designers Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla after last year's sari and jacket diasaster.
Forget Sonam Kapoor and Vidya Balan, our Ash has finally arrived. -
Earlier in the day, Aishwarya looked the picture of elegance and made heads turn as she posed for a media call in a black Zac Posen skirt, white Saint Laurent shirt accessorised with an Armani belt.
